What Happens If My Payment Fails?
If your payment through PayFast fails, don’t worry — your order is not lost.
Reasons a Payment May Fail
- Your card has expired or is not authorized for online payments.
- Insufficient funds in your bank account.
- Bank declined the transaction due to a security check.
- Network or connection error during checkout.
- For subscriptions: your saved card or account details are no longer valid.
What You Can Do (Once-Off Payments)
- Try again using the Pay Now option.
- Choose a different payment method within PayFast (e.g., Instant EFT instead of card).
- Make sure your bank allows online transactions and that you have funds available.
What You Can Do (Subscriptions)
- If a subscription payment fails, PayFast will usually retry automatically.
- Check that your card/account linked to the subscription is still valid.
- Update your payment details in PayFast if your card has expired.
- If your subscription remains unpaid after retries, your service (hosting or domain) may be suspended until a new payment is made.
Service Activation
- Services (domains, hosting, renewals) will remain on hold until payment is successfully processed.
- Failed or unpaid invoices will not be activated automatically.
- For subscriptions, services linked to the subscription may be suspended if payment is not resolved.
